MARÍA FERNANDA
30 YEARS OLD

After spending seven years outside Venezuela without finding a decent job, this mother of two decides to cross the Darien, one of the most dangerous crossings in the world, in search of opportunities to rebuild her life. On the way, however, she must face the agony of being separated from one of her children, who then gets lost in the middle of the jungle.

39 YEARS OLD

After announcing that she was pregnant, she lost her job. Yet, this single mother from Venezuela found the courage to move forward, far from her homeland and her family, motivated by the approaching birth of her daughter. Thus begins a journey of persistence and sacrifice to earn a living with her own health food business.

DIEGO
16 YEARS OLD

Having left so much behind in his home country of Venezuela, and starting a new life with his family in Peru, this young man witnesses his father and brother leave again due to the economic impacts of the pandemic. Through his eyes, we experience the uncertainty and pain of carrying the weight of a broken home, while facing the challenges of being a foreigner in a new country.

YELIMAR Y VÍCTOR
24 AND 27 YEARS OLD

This couple decides to cross the Darien with the intention of ensuring a better future for their two sons, aged 1 and 4, and their 3-year-old daughter, for whom they couldn’t provide enough food to survive in their home country. The long and at times terrifying journey tested their endurance, strength, in ways they couldn’t have ever imagined.
